We travelled along the Bunya Highway between Kingaroy and Wandai in Queensland. Road can be very bumpy and quite windy in places which can be a little difficult when towing a caravan.

Of course we stopped at the peanut van in Kingaroy before leaving town for a supply of fresh peanuts grown in the area.

Wandai is a large timber cutting area and the visitor information centre has a great range of wooden products – bowls, pens etc. The woodworking shed is next door and you can go in and watch the craftsmen and women at work turning the wood. The timber is local and there is a great display of all the timber found in the area. This was the highlight of our trip on this part of the Bunya Highway.

Of course the Bunya Pine is found around this part of Queensland  - the nuts can weigh up to 10 kgs and fall between 10 and 30 metres (you would not want to be standing underneath).  Apparently you can eat pods within the nuts if they are boiled.
