We drive through Blackheath regularly when travelling from Sydney to Bathurst. This is a great place to stop with a number of interesting art galleries, book shops, bakers, and cafes to visit for a cuppa or lunch. The Victoria Theatre Antique Centre and Cafe is housed in an old building and has two levels of small antique stalls - allow plenty of time to look around as there are plenty of goodies on display - great coffee in the cafe located at the front of the building.

We have also eaten takeaway from the Blackheath Fish and Chip shop which has been located in the same place since I was a child - on the main highway in the centre of town. Another favourite is the Bakehouse on Wentworth if you feel like a great pie.

In the car park beside the Victoria Theatre is one of the most colourful public toilet blocks you will ever see. Only 100 metres from the main road - convenient and always clean.

Blackheath is one of the highest towns above sea level in the Blue Mountains and the scenery is quite breathtaking - on both sides of town. There are several viewing platforms - just keep an eye out for signposts. The Blue Mountains is a very popular place for bush walking with many tracks leading through this World Heritage Area. It can be very cold in the Blue Mountains during winter (and summer) - my advice is to always have a jacket in the car.

I love the pies at the Wentwork Bakehouse, especially the beef and Guinness or lamb and rosemary. Sooo good. Only a short walk to the public toilet block so it is a great spot for a quick stop.
