The Kuniya Walk begins at the Kuniya car parking area past the Cultural Centre of Uluru. This is a relatively easy walk to Mutitjulu waterhole, (home of a wanampi, an ancestral watersnake) about one kilometre return to the car park - it is wheelchair accessible.

There are several viewing areas along the track with signs telling stories of their significance to the indigenous people of this area.

Beautiful wooden seats created by trees branches sit under shelters made from spinifex grass held between wire.  This is located near the intersection of Kuniya Walk and Base Walk. I found these fascinating and was amazed at the difference in temperature when standing under the shelters. Very welcome on a hot day.

Kuniya walk is apparently amazing after rain with water flowing down this great rock. This is a great area for birdwatchers. You’ll also see some rock art in the caves.

As with any walks within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta national Park you are advised to carry plenty of water, wear a hat and sunscreen (even in winter) as well at enclosed walking shoes.
