RvTrips' review

11 Aug 2015

Mt Uncle Distillery is situated between Mareeba and Atherton, off the Kennedy Highway near Walkamin, in north Queensland. We called in for a taste test on our way home one day - Platinum White Rum, Anjea Vodka, Sexycat Marshmallow Liqueur and Bontanic Australis Gin. The Botanic Australis Gin was our favourite - it is good enough to drink on its’ own or over ice. I have allowed a few special friends to taste my Botanic Australis Gin and they all agree with me that is very special.

As you can see from the photos, the gardens of Mt Uncle Distillery are worth a visit in their own right - located within a Banana, Avocado and Macadamia plantation. Bridges Cafe has been built in these beautiful gardens and is a very popular place for lunch. The building has been constructed of corrugated iron, timber poles and large glass windows- quite impressive. Apparently the Cafe has a collection of over 50 teas from around the world. Bridges Cafe is also fully licensed and air-conditioned - I think combined with the gardens would make a wonderful setting for weddings.

The Cellar Door and Bridges Tearoom/Café are open seven days a week from 10 am-4:30 pm. This is a beautiful place and something that should be added to your holiday list.

FINE DINING

Bridges Café has the largest selection of teas in North Queensland with over 50+ teas from around the world to try and buy. Bridges café is fully licensed and air-conditioned and is a great place to come and have a meal and a few luscious cocktails made from our award winning products.

Bridges Café looks out upon native woodland and provides a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. The building is constructed in a contempory rustic style from the old Walsh river bridge, just out side Mareeba. The large wooden pylons, corrugated iron and large glass windows set an ambiance second to none.

The Cellar Door and Bridges Tearoom/Café is open 7days a week from 10am-4:30pm. (Closed Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and ANZAC Day)
