Mannum is a lovely little town on the Murray River in South Australia, about 90 kilometres from Adelaide. This is a very popular destination for holidays and weekends as it has a wonderful riverfront area with easy access for water skiing, houseboats and those wishing to paddle along the river. I appeared to us that there were areas within Mary Ann Reserve dedicated to each type of activity which meant that  houseboats were moored away from the water skiers - we thought this was a great idea.

There are some lovely eating places overlooking the river - Pretoria Hotel or the Community Club.  We chose to order takeaway from JJJ's Diner and sit in Mary Ann Reserve (with many other weekend visitors) and enjoy our flathead and chips - Yum.

We stayed at the Mannum Caravan Park - a Top Tourist park on the banks of the river with one side facing the Hermann Gass Bird Sanctuary. We a river rate and then a beautiful family of swans swimming among the reeds.  This park is within walking distance to the Mannum Visitor Information Centre, museum, cafes and shops along Randell Street.

There are two vehicular ferries operating at Mannum and they seem to be busy all day transporting pedestrians, cars and trucks back and forth of the Murray River. This is a free service operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week (I understand only one ferry is in use overnight).

RvTrips would recommend a visit to Mannum for fishing, boating, sight seeing or just relaxing on the mighty Murray River. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
