Morgan is located at the bend in the Murray River and was once a busy river port in South Australia. It is a small town with a great history about 165 kilometres from Adelaide. Maps can be obtained from the Morgan Information and Resource Centre on 4th Street that show walking trails around town to see some of the many beautiful old buildings and the historical wharf. We love the old stone buildings around South Australia.

Morgan is a lovely spot to experience the mighty Murray River with a large boat ramp for easy access. A marker beside the boat ramp shows the heights reached by the river during various floods over the years - it is hard to imagine the water being that high.

Railway terrace leads to the lookout over the river with picnic tables, barbeques, garbage bins and plenty of parking when towing the caravan. This was a beautiful spot to enjoy Morning tea while watching the activity on the water. The Murray River is very popular for fishing and water sports and I understand hire equipment if available from the Morgan Riverside Caravan Park located next to the ferry.

This town has a range of accommodation and very good facilities - post office, pubs, restaurants, golf, newsagent, banking, mechanical services etc. The vehicular ferry crosses the river at Morgan and we found this a great service to get from one side to the other - plenty of room for trucks and caravans. We thought Morgan was a lovely country town and look forward to heading back some time and stay a few days
