We stayed at Point Turton during our caravanning adventure around the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. This is a lovely little holiday village overlooking Hardwicke Bay - where the peninsula's 'leg' meets the 'foot'.  It has a great boat ramp which is protected from the open bay and allows safe launching in all weather or tidal times. Alongside the boat ramp is the jetty - a great spot for fishing with steps leading down to the bay for a swim in the beautiful clear water on a still day.

The Point Turton Caravan Park is housed in an old Flux Quarry, situated right alongside the jetty and boat ramp. This is only a small park with grassed sites and very clean amenities - cabins are perched on the higher areas and views over the Bay.

Tavern on Turton – located on the hill above the caravan park overlooking the water with great views, reasonably priced drinks and a range of lovely meals (including fresh local seafood).

I would also recommend a trip to the Point Turton Store and Bakery to try one of their "Witchetty Grubs" - mine was filled with a frankfurt, ham, cheese, tomato, onion and pepper (delicious).  Make sure you are hungry as this "Witchetty Grub" is very filling. The store also has fresh baked bread, groceries, fishing gear, postal supplies and fuel plus very friendly service.

Point Turton is a wonderful base to explore the bottom end of the Yorke Peninsula and we spent time travelling to Innes National Park, Marion Bay, Corny Point and the lighthouse. I suggest that you stop by the Inland Sea Restaurant and seafood outlet near Warooka.  We purchased some smoked fish and a bottle of their own Kilpatrick Sauce - highly recommended.
