Port Lincoln is a large city with a huge seafood industry. We stayed at the Port Lincoln Tourist Park which is right on the water and has great views over Boston Bay. One of the first things we did in town was to head to the Visitor Information Centre and book a trip to go swimming with the Tuna in special pens. These pens have been created to allow the fish to increase in size for the market. The pen we visited is kept purely for the purpose of allowing tourists to swim with the Tuna - a great facility to enable viewing of these beautiful, fast moving fish.

It is really worthwhile to head up to the look out for great views over Port Lincoln and the surrounding countryside. Down to the foreshore where there is a full size bronze statue of Makabi Diva - owned by a local - this horse won three Melbourne Cup races. There are some great walking tracks and a special enclosure for swimming off the main jetty. Port Lincoln is also major port for grain and fertilizer - as well as home to a fleet of Tuna fishing boats.

Many Restaurants in town sell fresh seafood but if you would like to see really fresh seafood then head to the Fresh Fish Place - on Proper Bay Road. They not only sell fresh and cooked seafood but run tours of the factory - very interesting to see how quickly a prawn can be peeled or an oyster shell opened for market.
