Port Vincent is a popular holiday destination located on the shores of Gulf St Vincent, Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. This small coastal town is about two hours drive from Adelaide where visitors can enjoy a range of water activities - we were able to use the Fanatic Inflatable Stand Up Paddleboard in the calm water near the Port Vincent Foreshore Caravan Park. This was a perfect sport with shallow clear water and hardly any wind as we were teaching fellow travellers who had never been SUPing before.

Apparently you can walk in the shallows to rake for blue swimmer crabs or dive for scallops just off-shore - we saw plenty of people fishing from the shore, jetties and small boats in the bay for mullet, salmon, flathead, bream, garfish, whiting or squid. We even witnessed some people fishing from the back their caravans parked on the beachfront sites during high tide - one older lady was unable to walk any distance and said her fishing spot was perfect.

Beaches at Port Vincent are great for swimming we saw a number of children swim out to the pontoon just off shore. We headed out on our pushbikes to explore the northern walking trails which took us up to the top of the cliffs above town for stunning views across the marina and the Gulf.  I highly recommend this for a great morning walk or ride when staying at Port Vincent.

The Ventnor Hotel on the corner of Marine Parade and Main Street is within walking distance of the caravan park and a lovely place to sit and relax over a drink or meal while looking out over the bay. We happened to call in during happy hour - what a great friendly atmosphere plus cheap drinks.

Near the entrance to the caravan park is a takeaway fish and chip shop which is extremely busy on weekends - they have a children's playground next door and shaded outdoor tables. We also ate at the Port Vincent Deli Takeaway (opposite the Ventnor Hotel) and really enjoyed their crumbed King George Whiting.
