Robinvale is a quiet little town on the Murray River between Mildura and Swan Hill in Victoria. The sign for the town says "Where the River is Fun", and we found this to be true as we explored the Murray on our Fanatic Inflatable SUP. Robinvale is located on a wide section of the Murray River and very popular for boating and fishing. Lock 15 and weir are just down the road (I mean river) and a bike path has been created between Robinvale and Euston in order to ride under the river gums.

Places we visited in town:

  • Visitor Information Centre - stocks an extensive range of products form the local area. Check opening times as they close early on Wednesday.
  • IGA - good range and friendly staff
  • Hammet's Robinvale Butchery - most tender eye fillet we have had for ages. They cure their own ham and we could not resist buying some - delicious.
  • Nooy's Bakery - we arrived after close but she was happy to let us in to select bread rolls.
  • Robinvale Motel - enjoyed a couple of drinks in the front bar and then took home takeaway Thai from Mali-Thai which was delicious.
  • Robinvale Golf Club - nice looking course
  • Robinvale Riverside Caravan Park - our caravan site backed onto the river. Lovely well maintained park with great hosts - thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
  • Chemist - most helpful in obtaining a script from our local doctor for blood pressure medication.

In this area you will find Robinvale Estate (an award winning olive oil business), Robinvale Wines (certified organic - with a range of non alcoholic drinks) and Select Harvests Almond producers (we would love to re-visit during almond harvest to see the process).

We found this a really relaxing place to visit in Victoria and were glad we listened to fellow travellers and stayed for a few days.
