While visiting Seymour in country Victoria we stayed at the BIG4 Seymour Holiday Park (previously known as the Goulburn River Caravan Park) located on the banks of the Goulburn River.

The caravan park is alongside a large council park which is a lovely place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon, with a new Children’s playground, picnic tables and barbeque facilities. Plenty of seating and large river gums provide much welcome shade.  Between the council park and the BIG4 is a boat ramp allowing easy access to the river.  All very nice and well maintained. .

Seymour has an historical train station which is heritage listed and was built in 1874.  You can take a tour of the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre and/or visit the Old Black Steam Engine and discover the history of train travel in Victoria.

The Seymour Visitor Information Centre (VIC) is housed in an old courthouse with a great sculpture out front of a judge. The history of this structure dates back to 1864 and it sits on the National Trust Register of Important Buildings.

Just down the road from the VIC is the Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk - the only walk of its kind in Australia dedicated to all Vietnam Veterans. Highly recommended that you visit this site when staying in Seymour, or take a break when traveling from Melbourne to marvel at this great dedication to Vietnam Veterans.  It features a Centurion Tank (huge), a Huey Helicopter, plus a range of artillery pieces. The Commemorative walk has the names of service men and women who dedicated their energy to the protection of Australia - I think there at about 60,000 names.  It is very interesting to read some of the heroic acts by our soldiers in saving lives and staying with the wounded under awful conditions.  I am in awe at the absolute bravery of some people!  A very moving experience.
