This was our first visit to Broome in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and we decided to stayed at the Palm Grove Holiday Park which is located close to Cable Beach. One of the first things we did after arriving in Broome was to walk to Cable Beach and watch a sunset - absolutely beautiful with amazing colours.

Some of the things we did while enjoying our stay in Broome:

  • camel ride on Cable Beach - heaps of fun
  • Tour to the Horizontal Falls, Buccaneer Archipelago, Cape Leveque, Dampier Peninsula, One Arm Point Trochus Hatchery - great day with lots to see
  • Turtle Kayak Marine Adventure
  • Willie Creek Pearl Farm
  • Gantheaume Point to see the dinosaur footprints
  • Broome Historical Museum - learn about the history of the area and beginning of the rich pearling industry
  • Broome Markets - fabulous range of local produce, arts and crafts (held each weekend)
  • Malcolm Douglas Wilderness Wildlife Park - hold a baby crocodile
  • Pearl shopping - large number of outlets selling various pearl jewellery
  • Roebuck Bay

There is so much to see and do in Broome - no wonder it is a very popular tourist destination - the weather was sunny every day during our September visit. The Broome Visitor Information Centre is located in the centre of town. They can book any tour(s) for you and have great information on current events - plus really friendly, helpful staff.

Broome is extremely busy during the winter months so remember to book - we arrived just after the peak period and had a choice of sites. There are plenty of eating places around town - we particularly enjoyed the fresh fish and chips from Blueys Place - a takeaway located near the Visitor Information Centre.

There are very good bike/waking paths from Cable Beach to the town centre but remember it can get very hot so take plenty of water.

Broome was fantastic! very relaxing and there was so much to see and do. We went to Willie Creek pearl farm which was very fascinating and of course, you can't miss out on a camel ride. We enjoyed walking along the beach every morning and we even took a kayaking Marine Adventure. The water was an amazing colour except it was a bit mirky when we were there.
