Kalbarri National Park is located 485 km (301 mi) north of Perth. The major geographical features of the park include the Murchison River gorge which runs for nearly 80 km (50 mi) on the lower reaches of the Murchison River. The town of Kalbarri on the West Australian coast, about 580 kilometres north of Perth, is surrounded by Kalbarri National Park. This park is well known for the amazing rock formation created by the Murchison River or by the wind and waves along areas of the park that meet the Indian Ocean. We visited the park late in the wildflower season but were still amazed at the beauty on display - I can't imagine what it looks like when all the bushes are blooming with colour.

We stayed in Kalbarri for several days and visited as many features as possible in the National Park:

  • Nature's Window
  • The Loop Lookout
  • Z Bend
  • Ross Graham Lookout
  • Hawks Head Lookout
  • Red Bluff
  • Jacques (Jakes) Point
  • Mushroom Rock
  • Rainbow Valley
  • Island Rock
  • Natural Bridge
  • Eagle Gorge

The Kalbarri National Park is very well set up for visitors with most locations providing car parking space and clearly marked walking paths. The map provided by the Visitor Information Centre shows areas that have picnic tables, public toilets, walking trails and wheelchair access. When travelling in this amazing part of Western Australia, I would highly recommend a few days to see the sights of Kalbarri National Park.
