The Monkey Mia Visitor Information Centre is located near the car park - clearly sign posted as you will need to walk past the entrance to gain access to the beach for dolphin feeding. A fee is applicable for entry into the Monkey Mia reserve and money is used by the Department of Parks and Wildlife to support the continual care, management and research of the Monkey Mia dolphins You can purchase either a daily pass or holiday pass for up to 4 weeks.

Monkey Mia is well known around the world for the daily close encounters and feeding of the wild dolphins that live in Shark Bay. The feeding occurs between 7:45 am and 12 noon depending on when the dolphins decide to arrive. This is very regulated as they still want the dolphins to hunt naturally and teach their young - each dolphin that visits is allowed up to 3 fish per day. People are chosen from the crowd to enter the water and feed one fish - you are not allowed to touch the dolphins as this can cause health issues.

Monkey Mia rangers and researchers also offer a variety of fun and interesting activities and events for people of all age. They often give talks on their conservation work and dolphin behaviour. Next to the Visitor Information Centre is an interactive display where you can watch a DVD on dolphins as well as read information on other marine creatures at Monkey Mia and Shark Bay.

The Visitor Information Centre has a range of interesting material and books on the dolphin families of Shark Bay and a huge range of souvenirs. We found the staff really interesting and passionate about Monkey Mia.

The staff were very friendly! The shop has a lot of information and great souvenirs. You will have to stop here to find out Dolphin feeding times and to book tours. There is also a self guided bush walk that starts near the entrance.
